SHERATON GRAND HOTEL SYDNEY - DOLTONE HOUSE DARLING ISLAND

Why change a winning formula? Holding the symposium at Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park gives delegates a great variety of accommodation options, including the opportunity to stay right where the conference is taking place. It was so great to return to a face-to-face conference last February, and this stunning venue gives us lots of space, high quality facilities and an amazing lunchtime buffet. We believe that this venue is perfectly suited for our needs and hope that as we continue to grow over years to come, we can continue to enjoy this great hotel right in the heart of the Sydney CBD.

Paper Presentations & Tea Breaks will again be delivered in the Grand Ballroom and surrounds on Level 2 each day, with our conference securing exclusive use of the entire floor again in 2024. We plan to add an additional Barista Coffee Cart to supply your caffeine hit during all of the breaks. Lunch has been a huge success at this venue; The International Seafood Buffet at Feast Restaurant on Level 1 offers an amazing selection of flavours with meats and seafood grilled to perfection, local favourites that feature authentic tastes and new presentations – the food reflects the wonderful melting pot of cultures we live in today.

A slight change to format for 2024 will see APSS starting a little later on the Monday. There will be a Student Workshop and Mentoring session in the Hyde Park Room on Level 2, commencing mid-morning, with the official opening of the conference and paper presentations starting after Lunch in the Grand Ballroom also on Level 2. Following on from paper presentations on Monday, we will continue into the early evening with our Poster Session. This will also be held in the Hyde Park Room and includes Drinks + Canapes. It is a great opportunity to do some networking with other delegates whilst you peruse through the Poster Presentations.

The Symposium Dinner (Tuesday Night) will this year be held at Doltone House, Darling Island. A spectacular waterfront venue on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour, with views of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and magical city skyline. There will be bus transfers to and from Sheraton, or it is a leisurely 25 min walk down Market St and across Pyrmont Bridge.

APSS 2024 will be hosted predominantly on Level 2 with paper presentations taking place in the Grand Ballroom, Monday Evening Poster Session will be held in the Hyde Park Room, and Registrations and Tea Breaks will be in the large Foyer Area between these 2 rooms. Lunch, however, will be served 1 floor down in the Feast Restaurant, where we will be treated an irresistible culinary spread, including the renowned International Seafood Buffet.

The setting offers an event experience on the best harbour in the world, an ideal venue location. Only minutes the Darling Harbour precinct, Doltone House Darling Island is within easy walking distance of the CBD and all the attractions that Sydney city has to offer. Serving Sydney’s best quality produce, from the freshest of seafoods, and the premium cut of meats, they source only the highest standard foods. Upon arrival at the Pyrmont venue, the evening will begin with canapes and pre-dinner drinks, accompanied by some soft Jazz music, the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind after a long day at the conference. Following canapes, we will be seated in the dining room, boasting amazing views of the Sydney City skyline. You will be served a delicious 2 course menu, during which some special announcements and presentations will take place. Following dinner we will have the live band take it up a notch to get us all on the dancefloor.
